I'm not really sure where to start. My husband and I struggled for over 8 years to make it financially, but just couldn't pull through. Almost a year ago, we lost our house. I moved in with my parents and he moved in with his dad. 2 weeks later, I found out I was pregnant with number 4. With no other options available, I enrolled in school in order to be able to support my kids since my husband apparently is never going to. I have completed one semester out of 4 to become a paramedic. Amazingly enough, I got 3 A's and 1 B even though I gave birth 2 weeks before finals! I'm still living with my parents and working on my second semester. At the end of this semester, I will be a certified EMT, and I will be finished with MICT in December of 2012! I'm so excited to be self sufficient! :)
The bad stuff: Living with my parents is not good because my mom has COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). She's on the list for a double lung transplant. My kids, aka little petri dishes, not only put alot of unnecessary stress on her, but they go to school and bring home germs. Truthfully, a cold could ultimately kill her. Additionally, if she does get the call for a transplant, I just plain can't live here with my kids. She will have to live in a "bubble" for a while, which is not very easy to do with a house full of kids.
More bad stuff: My parents have been kinds enough to let me use an extra car they have. But it is a 1996 Honda Accord with 208,000 miles on it. My 8 year old son has to ride in the front seat, which is not safe because it has an airbag that I cannot shut off. My 6 year old daughter has to sit in the middle seat in the back between my 2 year old son's car seat and my new baby's car seat. With both of those car seats in the back, there is no room for her booster seat. Not to mention, she's in the middle, with no shoulder strap. I desperately need a minivan, but my funds are very limited. I do have some money for one, I'm just not sure if it's enough to get something dependable.
